Halloween Safety
Town of Milton Code Chapter 11 Section 11-76
Sec. 11-76 Halloween regulations; exceptions.
- (a) No person shall permit his child or any child under his control to go about the streets, ways and/or sidewalks within the corporate limits of the Town of Milton for the purpose causing mischief of any sort.
- (b) Children who have attained the age of fourteen (14) years may go upon the streets, ways and/or sidewalks from door to door or house to house for treats between the hours of 6:00 p.m., prevailing time and 8:00 p.m. prevailing time on October 31 of any year; provided, however, that if October 31 shall be a Sunday, such going from door to door and house to house for treats shall take place on the evening of October 30, between the hours of 6:00 p.m., prevailing time and 8:00 p.m. prevailing time.
- (c) Nothing in this section shall be deemed to prohibit the gathering and participation of children in a Halloween parade or costume contest sponsored by the Town or a service club of the Town.
It's Important To Remember To:
- Trick-or-Treat when it is still light outside.
- Plan your route with your family ahead of time.
- Pick streets that are well-lighted.
- Trick-or-treat with a parent, older brother or sister, or with a group of children if someone older can't go with you.
- Carry a flashlight and use retro-reflective tape on your costume so you can see and be seen easily.
- Wear a costume that makes it easy for you to walk
- A face mask will keep you from seeing well. Why not use make-up instead? If you must wear a mask, take it off before you cross the street.
- Cross at corners and use marked crosswalks whenever possible. Do not cross the street between parked cars.
- If there is no sidewalk, walk with the road on your right.
- Wait until you get home to sort, check and eat your treats.
- PARENTS, please check you children's treats before allowing them to eat them.
